Amazon Account Suspended? What to Do in the First 24 Hours

Finding out that your Amazon seller account has been suspended is stressful. Sales stop, funds may be held, and the notification often feels vague. The first day matters, but not because speed beats accuracy. What you do, and what you avoid doing, in the first 24 hours shapes how clearly you can respond later.

1. Read the notification carefully, from start to finish

Open the email from Amazon and the message in Seller Central under Performance > Account Health. Note the exact policy named, the ASINs or order IDs mentioned, and any deadline. Suspensions are not all the same: an account-level suspension, a listing removal and a restricted category are different situations with different next steps.

2. Save everything before you change anything

Take screenshots of the notification, your Account Health page, recent customer messages and any performance notifications. Export your recent order, inventory and settlement reports. Evidence you can no longer open later is hard to replace.

3. Do not rush to submit an appeal

An appeal is not an obligation on day one. An incomplete or inaccurate submission can make the next one harder. Your goal in the first day is to understand what happened, find the root cause and collect the supporting records. Only then should you write the response.

4. Do not open a new account or contact Amazon repeatedly

Creating another account while the first one is under review can link the two and create a new problem. Sending many messages through different channels rarely speeds things up and can create conflicting records.

5. Work out the likely root cause

Common causes include product authenticity complaints, intellectual property complaints, order defect rate, late shipment, related-account links, and identity or document verification. Match the wording of the notification with your own data: which products, which suppliers, which customer complaints.

6. Gather your supporting documents

Depending on the case, this can include supplier invoices, purchase records, proof of authorization from a brand owner, shipping records and identity or business documents. They must be real, readable and consistent with each other. A document that does not match your records does more harm than none.

7. Prepare a clear Plan of Action

For many suspensions Amazon expects a Plan of Action with three parts: the root cause, the corrective actions you have taken and the preventive measures that stop it from happening again. It should be specific, factual and written by someone who understands the case.
